Google play store not working

All of us at one point of time experience Android apps suddenly crashing. If that android app is Play store, then Headache will climbs up the mountain to solve it. Play store app working is more important to android users. Because it is the channel through which we install all other android applications. But due to some specific reasons this play store not working. At most it's difficult to find the main the reason for that problem.

Google Play store not working Problem: tips & tricks

1. Activate Download Manager

Go to: Settings » Apps » ALL » Download Manager

It is one of the very common reasons, that cause play store problems. Sometimes without your knowledge this download manager is turned off. Turning off download manager creates serious problem to play store while downloading apps. So, you have to check whether it is stopped or not.

If you have deactivated the Download Manager, to get it back just go to Settings.There you can find App Manager (or equivalent), where you find all about apps. Then in app manager head to the All apps tab. Search for Download Manager or just go through list of apps.

Open that download manager app and tap on the activate button. However we are checking this, you may find this buttons says deactivate. Don't worry, this means your Download manager is already active.

2. Clear the cache

Go to: Settings » Apps » ALL » Google Play store » clear cache

There you can find App Manager (or equivalent), where you can find list of apps details. Then in app manager head to the All apps tab. Search for Google Play store app or just go through list of apps. Just open that app, in which you have to do some important things.

First thing you just needs to do is that, Clear the cache. Clearing cache makes space available for Play store further data downloads. This is temporary storage for you loaded data to make next loading easier. There are chances that much cache also cause problem for downloading apps.

After clearing cache, check whether your Play store is working or not. This might be one of the reason, if play store works happy. Or else just proceed to next step.

3. Delete data

Go to: Settings » Apps » ALL » Google Play store » clear cache 

If the first tip didn’t work, then you can try deleting the data from the Play Store. Sometimes Saved app data may also cause problems. Just above Clear cache button you will find Clear Data button, have a nick on it. Check now whether plays tore working or not.

4. Uninstall Play Store updates

Go to: Settings » Apps » ALL » Google Play store » Uninstall Play store updates

Sometimes updated Play store versions may create problems in your android device. So, better try uninstalling Play store updates. Before uninstalling make sure you backed up that Play store version. To uninstall click on "Uninstall Play store updates" button. They check whether it is working or not.

5. Google Play Services

Go to: Settings » Apps » ALL » Google Play services » Clear Cache 

If the above tips didn't help you, there is nothing left to do about Play store. It's now time to work on Google Play services. Play services is there in your android to help Play store functionality. As far as you performed above steps, you have no problem with play store app.

Now it's time to work on Google play services. Again just go to App manager, then head to All apps section. Now just search for Google Play services app. Open the app and "Clear Cache". Now check whether your play store functioning improved or not.

6. Remove Google account and Sign in again

Go to: Settings » Accounts list » Google

Sometime there might be problem with your play store account, as it happened in my case. All you have to do is to remove present Gmail account, and then add it back. You might changed your Google account password. Or started using 2-step verification method for google account.

Add Account: Settings » Accounts list » Add Account » Google

Go back into the settings of your phone, then to ‘Accounts’ and choose and select the Google account that you are using for Google Play store app. Click on top right corner menu button and choose ‘Remove Account’. Confirm your choice and reboot your smartphone.

Now after restarting device just add your google account back. Just connect it to Play store app again. By performing this step, there won't any problems with Google account.

7. Factory Data Reset of your smartphone

If still Play store not working, perform the final step Factory Data Reset of your phone. This could be your only way out of Google Play misery. Your smartphone will start anew and revert back to how it was when you first got it. However, be forewarned that all of your data will be lost, so it is super important to perform a complete backup beforehand.

Go to: Settings » Backup & Reset » "Factory reset Data"

To perform a Factory Data Reset you go to your Settings once again, then ‘Backup and Reset’ and select ‘Factory Data Reset’ at the bottom of the list. Once the process is complete, you can set it up again as before and restore the backup.

For rooted users : Google Play store not working

Edit hosts file :

Steps : Root Directory » Local sytem/etc/hosts » Adding # 

If the Play Store not working for you, as your device is rooted, you have even simpler solution at hand: just modify your Hosts file for quick fix. Go to your preferred file manager and head to the root directory. Locate system/etc/hosts and open with the Edit option.

Add a hashtag (#) to the front of the second set of numbers and save your changes (i.e. change from 127.0.0.1 to #127.0.0.1). Reboot or restart and Perform Step-6 and your Google Play Store problems should be fixed.
