There are normally two procedures for getting lollipop update. One is Manual checking which is explained in later steps. Second one is get notified automatically by "Motorola update services". Updating Motorola update services in play store will let you notified quickly about Moto E lollipop update.



Motorola Update services

To do this just Go to : Play store » My apps , there you can find Motorola Update services. You just update it, it takes less time to update. Be up-to-date about this, because it always notify you about your software or services.

To do this you don't have to Root your smartphone device. But you should enable Developer options.

2.Enable Developer options:(If you already not did so)

To enable developer options is necessary thing as I have been told so. To enable developer options go to "Settings -> About phone" in your moto E smartphone. Then continuously tap on "Build number" option until it shows "You are now a developer!".

3.Download Moto E lollipop update file:

Download this Moto E lollipop Blur file (13 MB) to update to 22.21.36 version, to your PC or smartphone. Check whether this file is completely downloaded or not. Because partial downloading might lead to software damage.

Many people ask me whether it is necessary to update this file. I insist to download this 13mb update because it is procedure. Don't rename 13mb Blur file.

Important : After changing version number, Copy this Blur file from your PC to Moto E. Both into Root forlder of your internal memory and as well as SD Card (if you use it).


4.Checking for system update:

After doing above steps, just long press your power button to restart. Now go and check for System update in your Moto E, as you did earlier for automatic update. Recognizing this update is your phone thing, means it's upto your phone. There is nothing we do about it.
Go to : Settings » About Phone » System updates

You'll get notified here that you got lollipop update. When there comes about Lollipop update just press " Yes, I am in". After that it'll copy system updates.

5.Download Moto E lollipop update file:

Download this Moto E lollipop Blur file (209 MB) to update to 23.21.34 version, to your PC or smartphone. Check whether this file is completely downloaded or not. Because partial downloading might lead to software damage.


Important : After changing version number, Copy this Blur file from your PC to Moto E. Both into Root folder of your internal memory and as well as SD Card (if you use it).

6.Changing Blur file version number:

Changing Blur file version doesn't mean, changing it's software. Just Renaming it to get recognized by your moto E 1st gen device, because automatic update is not available.

Rename the version number of zip file in PC or smartphone from 22.21.36 to 23.21.15, don't change anything else.

Important read it : Now just perform only step -4 again to install 5.1 lollipop update completely.

7.You have nothing to do but use Lollipop update 5.1:

  2. i am currently in android 5.0.2(22.21.32) and i downloaded 5.0.2(22.21.36).system update shows the update but after update occurs when i check the file it shows same android 5.0.2(22.21.32) as before.please give me a solution.
